Kensington Food Tour

In the 1850s, settlers started a small village which grew up around jobs created by Toronto Nurseries, owned by George Leslie, for whom the community is named. The area continued to grow when a number of factories moved to the area.

Eventually, the factories moved farther out of the city, and the factory departure has greatly changed the area. The neighbourhood gentrified rapidly between 2000 and 2010, to eventually become one of TorontoŐs hippest places to dine, drink, shop and live.

Although the area has changed significantly since the turn of the century, Leslieville still feels very much like a small village. ItŐs beautiful architecture, antique stores, and tree lined streets seem a world away from downtown Toronto next door.
